Saw this big beautiful but odd ‘moth thing’ today! Huge and surreal. Delicate and scary. A cross between a tropical fish, a kite, and an evil bat that will suck your brains out your ears while you sleep.
It reminds me of my Mattel Thingmaker when we used to make Creepie Crawlies by baking plastigoop in the little Mattel hotplate machine…best Christmas present ever for kids in the 60’s. Who remembers? Who can still smell the goop baking?
Some new wildflowers coming out on this leg…

I definitely remember “Creepy Crawlers”! In fact, I’ve thought about them within the last few weeks or months! I had a friend growing up in South Peabody who had the Creepy Crawlers set. I still remember the smell of them baking! The reason I think of them sometimes is I wonder if I could find them again. I did not realize it was a Mattel toy. Now the search begins.

Believe it or not I found it on ebay! 1960’s version I think is the best. I see the bumble bee and snake! The goop seems to be scarce, though. May bid on one I see on ebay. I’ll keep you posted!

Wow- amazing! I’ll bet if they re-marketed that today tons of kids would buy it and love it…

I remember creepy crawlers. They also had an edible version called Gobbilty Gook. I asked Santa for Gobbility Gook one year because I wanted to make bugs and snakes and then eat them. I was very, very disappointed when Christmas morning Santa failed to come through. NO GOBBILTY GOOK. What was I to do? I cried and threw a tantrum. Then big brother Kenny came down stairs with a package. He had a weird grin on his face and told me Santa put the present under Ma’s bed. How strange. But I was happy.
