  1. Kevin, I hope that anti-vaxxers recognize irony and satire when they see it, but I have very serious doubts about their sense of humor, openness to gentle ribbing, and perspicacity. I loved your puzzled look and perfectly timed pause at “But I think . . .” That is just enough of a pause for viewers to realize that what anyone as ignorant as the speaker thinks is likely to be without value. No good deed goes unpunished, so you might find this video circulated by the folks you have previously and properly identified as crazies. They might make you a Tik Tok star, and put on the Ron DeSantis and Alex Jones fund-raising sucker email lists.

  2. Stephen: You know, I wish I could take full credit for this post, but Stewart Lee (great English comedian) did something similar with the Loch Ness monster and I thought it would translate perfectly here . . .

As for the anti-vaxxers, I have to note that in the short interim since this post, I heard on the Patriot satellite radio station someone talking about the wildest vaccine theory and the Right-Wing host was carefully trying to distance himself from the caller’s premise while trying to not lose a large segment of his conspiracy-addled audience . . . it was sad.

I’m sure this post will misfire in all the predictable ways you portend, but I couldn’t help myself . . .

    Whoops . . .

Thanks for commenting! Someone has to keep me in check! 🙂

  3. Okay, people who deny that COVID exists are morons. But the bureaucrats at CDC, WHO, FDA, and other organizations (not to mention the politicians who gave them their marching orders) have not been impressive. Being anti-vax is generally stupid, but the central-planners have their crazies too. They were wrong about masks, completely screwed up testing, inexplicably barred challenge trials, and have consistently provided confusing and inconsistent guidance. Here in Northampton, we had a large sign on the bike path threatening bikers who dared to ride in the great outdoors without a mask (“violators are subject to $300 fine”). And remember how the media went crazy when Texas rescinded the mask mandate, predicting a deadly surge of hospitalizations? It had zero effect on transmissions. This pandemic is very complicated and we just don’t have all the data, so we need to be careful to avoid getting too tribal and treating everyone who disagrees with our policy initiatives as crazy.

    1. Jo-Jo: Fair points . . . the biker thing is really against even the simplest notions of understanding this . . . But, I’m not as concerned with the mistakes being made around the edges . . . I should have been more clear, but I’m really targeting this: a world pandemic, an effective vaccine quickly developed, and tons of people not getting vaccinated because their tinfoil hat or political party told them not to . . . (and the lack of vaccination stressing society logistically and psychologically)
